In this study, we investigated the use of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in teaching materials developed for teaching text production in Portuguese L2 (PL2). We previously analysed PL2 textbooks and interviewed teachers, highlighting limitations in existing resources and the need for a procedural approach to writing. Based on ELBT, we developed activities involving planning, producing, and revising texts. The resources were used in a writing workshop with PL2 level B1 university students and the results were promising, including better use of lexicon and textual progression and suitability for the genre and target audience. Data collection will continue with new groups to broaden the conclusions about the effectiveness of the materials developed.
